The Kindezi School was Approved!!
Thursday, March 11, 2010

It is official. Today the Georgia Board of Education voted to approve The Kindezi School for a 5 year term.

Ours was the only charter school that created much discussion. During the meeting, one of the Board members asked me, "If you can have six students per class, why can't everybody have six students in a class?" My response, "That's what I'd like to know." The chair of the charter schools committee, Linda Zechman, said that it was a very exciting model that the education world should pay close attention to and she invited me to come back and update them on our successes and struggles from time to time. In the end, it was a unanimous decision: Yes to Kindezi.

The only other element that could have blocked us, lack of a suitable facility, is now no longer a threat. The Kindezi School has been formally offered a chance to start up in Turner Middle School's facility. It is a facility in extremely good condition with great greenspace and we do plan to accept the offer and start up there this August. It is located at 85 Anderson Ave, Atlanta GA 30314, across from Anderson Park.

To quote a popular disco song from the 70s, ain't no stoppin' us now!!!
