Kindezi Enrollment Application Window Begins on Monday, February 1st
Monday, January 18, 2010
The Kindezi School is more confident than ever that it will be approved to open in fall 2010. Unlike last year, we have been given no signs from the Georgia Department of Education that our petition/application is in danger of denial. In fact, officials speak to us informally as if our opening this coming fall can be taken for granted. We have made the changes they wanted to see and are not worried about our plans being delayed yet again. The final vote will not be until early March. However, because we have no reason to be worried we are opening the enrollment window before that final vote.
The Kindezi School will begin accepting enrollment applications for rising K-3 students on Monday, February 1st. (Note: students who are 3rd graders this year are unfortunately too old for eligibility.) The application window will continue through the April 3, 2010. It is the time when parents can submit applications for enrollment in order for their child(ren)to be eligible for attending Kindezi when it opens in August 2010. The enrollment form will be available from the Kindezi website on the “Enroll” page.
Enrollment will NOT be conducted on a first come, first serve basis so there is no need for parents to go out of their way in hurrying to submit an application. As a charter school, Kindezi School is required to collect all of the applications submitted during the application window and if there are more than 24 applications in any grade, we will decide who to accept by using a random lottery. Only children of founding board members, teachers, and siblings of those accepted will be given priority and not required to enter the lottery.
We will be hosting at least two parent information sessions during the months of February and March. When those times and places are determined, we will publicize those dates as well. We hope to see many parents coming out to meet us, ask us the tough questions, and learn more about The Kindezi School at these sessions. In the meantime, have a happy Martin Luther King Day!
